Les Chapeaux des Animaux
For Christmas 2013 I got this amazing knitting book called Animal Hats by Vanessa Mooncie which has loads of knitting patterns for different animal hats, and from that point started a year long obsession with knitting animal hats for small people! I started knitting the hats in June, but had actually spent much longer consulting with the small people to find out which one they wanted and also deciding the best yarns to use! Charity Shop Pattern Finds
Over the weekend J and I did our usual charity shop rummages and look what I found! These amazing vintage patterns were tucked away in a corner, found after some serious rummaging! These patterns made the grade: J has requested a Father Christmas jumper, and I can’t wait to knit a small person a Spot The Dog jumper! These, although awesome, didn’t quite make it home! Celebrity knitting patterns, what a genius idea! Not sure how much input Billy Connolly would have to his knitting pattern though!!

Seagull Love
A while ago, J and I were lucky enough to be on the pre-Bestival boat party and I developed a very real attachment to Barry, the plastic seagull! Ever since then I have been wanting a seagull of my very own, and now I think I’ve found the answer in Nicky Fijalkowska’s knitted seagull pattern! It’s very cute, and I think he would replace plastic Barry nicely!

Boy’s Hooded Cardigan
A while ago I knitted this lovely boy’s hooded cardigan for my friend’s little boy, using this very versatile Sirdar pattern. The pattern has four designs for ages 0 – 6 years, and is suitable for boys or girls. I prefer, where possible to knit with natural fibres so I swapped the suggested yarn of Sirdar Snuggly DK and chose instead King Cole Merino Blend DK. Being fairly new to knitting and swapping one yarn in a pattern for another, I didn’t think to check the difference in length between the two yarns, and so ended up using 6 balls of the King Cole in comparison to the 4 suggested…
