Hi people! I hope you are well this Wednesday! This post is about a new feature I’m starting called Hot Knits. Each month or so I’ll be sharing with you something knitty or crafty that I really love.
This week’s Hot Knit #1 is the Purl Soho Mitered Corner Blanket. This popped up in my Inbox and I instantly fell in love! I love the ‘warm’ colourway and the simple, but very effective textures of the squares.
The dimensions of the large size, which is probably the one I would knit, are 121cm wide and 162cm long. Perfect for snuggling under on a cold wintry night, maybe with some cheese and vino!
The mitered corner blanet pattern is free from the Purl Soho website and is knit in Purl Soho’s Linen Quil yarn. This is a fingering weight yarn of alpaca, linen and wool. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a stockist for Purl Soho yarn in the UK so if I was going to knit this I would potentially use Drops Alpaca yarn as a substitute.
I’d be wanting to do a good swatch first to test the sizes, but I think you could get a really close colour match with the colours: White (1101), Off White (0100), Coral (9022), Rust Mix (2925), Tomato (3900), Light Maroon Mix (5565), Light Pink (3140), Wheat (2110), Goldenrod (2923).
I think this is pretty close to the colours as shown on the Purl Soho website.
The mitered corner blanket is knit holding two stands of yarn together, and two strands of different coloured yarn in the colour transitions, which gives the blanket the lovely ombre effect.
I want to finish some baby knits and a jumper for myself, but then I think I’ll definitely be knitting this beauty!
As always I’d love to see what you’re knitting, so get in touch here or on social media and share what you’re up to!
